Many other neighborhoods have signs reminding residents when recycling day is upcoming. Most pickups only come every other week and it can be confusing when there is a holiday...everyone gets thrown off. So, the Riverland Terrace Neighborhood Association is posting two signs at either entrance of the neighborhood. The signs say Tuesday, but also have a velcro part that can say Wednesday when there is a holiday. Hopefully this will increase recycling and avoid neighbors keeping their bins at the street for days on end because they can't remember when the next collection day is. Experts say that the signage alone can help increase recycling participation by 25%. Also, at our next neighborhood meeting we will have a sign-up sheet for any neighbor who would like to have a recycling bin delivered to their home.
