The Avenue of Oaks

Riverland Terrace is famous for its grand oaks that line the streets of Wappoo and Riverland Drive. There are approxiamately 66 grand oaks on Wappoo Drive.  Some of these trees are thought to be over 100 years old.

In 1967, Wappoo Drive was designated as a "scenic drive" by Charleston County Council.

The Riverland Terrace Garden Club organizes the trees' care. They arrange for fertilizing of the trees through funds raised from donations and ticket sales of the annual Riverland Terrace Parade of Homes.

Please help preserve these trees as they are the pride and joy of our neighborhood.

Newsflash
There was a day time break in and burglary of a home in the neighborhood this week.  There were also reports of cars broken into a bicycle stolen.  Neighbors need to be advised to keep their cars locked, houses locked and alarmed when away from home, and not to leave objects such as bikes unattended.  If you see someone suspicious  or a suspicious activity call your neighbor and inquire if the person belongs there or call the police to come check it out.  Please remember to keep an eye out for house bound or elderly residents, and friends or neighbors homes when you know they are away.
